Hey guys, John Mackinac, Ronin Vegas. We're talking local sports, business, real estate. You guys like me see, subscribe, follow us on Running Vegas podcast. Today, I got my co-host, Mr.
SPEAKER_02:TV, there's a little bit of a kids.
SPEAKER_00:I'm a broken virtue real estate room. I think this is the first time we're going to be able to do that.
SPEAKER_05:Third times are charming? I like it because am I the most visited host or a guest?
SPEAKER_01:You're not. I'm not?
SPEAKER_03:Three times?
SPEAKER_01:Uh yeah. Oh, for your sports.
SPEAKER_00:Like number one in there. All right, all right. You're a busy guy.
SPEAKER_01:Like, if you want to come, I gotta get back in one more time.
SPEAKER_03:And it's like, yeah, so I'm excited. I know talking about busy, dude. You are about to open up the Henderson office. Yeah. Yeah, it's exciting.
SPEAKER_04:Yes, it is. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03:So tell us a little bit about the journey, all the crazy, yeah, all the craziness, all the chaos, yeah, all the big C's. All the big C's, man.
SPEAKER_05:I I I just learned that I love chaos, dude. So if things are uh going too smooth and things are too easy, um, I've got to create some disruption and throw something in like a whole new office, you know?
SPEAKER_03:I completely agree. Yeah, because uh ribbon cutting.
SPEAKER_05:January 7th, 2 o'clock. January 7th. Yeah, we'll be there. Be there.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, yeah. So tell us just more how that came about, why the Henderson office, because it's only we had Amber, our broker, on the pod last week, and it's like it hasn't even been three years, and you're already at full speed.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, it's been something that I have um been working towards for quite a while because um, you know, as you guys know, I spent five years in Henderson managing a Skya, and so I created a lot of relationships there in that local market. Um, it seems so weird to say that local market because Vegas has grown to the point or southern Nevada has now, to where it really has, they've really become independent cities, right? Like it used to be a small suburb of Las Vegas, and now it's really become its own independent city. So um that and you know, it's so many agents that I created relationships with out there like, man, I'd love to join, but dude, I'm not driving to Summerland. That's 40 minutes away. Right. And I get it. So um, you know, that way.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, yeah, with Summerlin. Exactly.
SPEAKER_05:So so we we had a lot of demand and and interest and to you know better serve our clients in Henderson and better serve the agents that are out there in that area um and to bring some of those great agents on. We said, you know what, it's time to open up that second office and expand. And so we've got the second office coming, man. That's awesome.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I like it.
SPEAKER_03:Congrats.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, very exciting. Yeah, yeah, it's interesting too, just over the last 15, 10 years that like the the areas, the cultures are even like shifting, which is interesting.
SPEAKER_05:Oh, yeah. Well, and even like, I mean, if you look at, you know, like everything has become, you know, now you really have like the northwest is its own area of town, Summerlin is its own area of town, southwest where we're at, has become its own area of town. So, I mean, the city has grown so large now that you know it used to be you could just have one office in the middle and you kind of service everything. And now it's like you really and people will even ask you, like, oh, is your office out here in the southwest or is it in Henderson? Yeah, um, they want to know because they feel like they're they're better, you're better serving the community if you're in that local area.
SPEAKER_03:So yeah, I hope in the future let's manifest a little downtown versus the city. Yes, yep, yep. John and I will take that over. No, we we would. I know, I know.
SPEAKER_04:You guys have already it's all it's already in there, man. It's in the works.
SPEAKER_03:So it's like something cool. That'd be uh that's an aspiration of ours. So for sure. Yeah, we already know what it looks like inside, outside.
SPEAKER_04:Well, we gotta start thinking about where that's at then. Yeah, so we can better serve that downtown area.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, it's I think it's gonna be soon at the rate you're moving.
SPEAKER_04:So I've got some rapid growth plans.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, so yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Which is good. Yep. Then you don't slow down.
SPEAKER_01:Nope, never. So how's your year been? What have your challenges been?
SPEAKER_05:It's good, man. You know, it's individually it's interesting, even though the year um individually for most agents has been tough. Um that the thing I'm probably the most proud of with Virtue is that um, you know, even looking at a lot of offices, a lot of them retracted this year, their numbers were down, and we're up. So, you know, we we my goal with everything is always year over year over year, no matter what the market's like, um, is always looking for ways to consistently increase our business. And so this year, um obviously the business has grown. So we're up about I think we were up eight percent from last year, um, which which is really good. And and so we we've we've had that growth, which is a positive thing, and uh looking for the same for this year for 2026, man. And now especially adding Henderson in there, um, I think we're gonna have a really strong year this year.
SPEAKER_01:So yeah. Well, you were we we basically did pretty much about the same business as last year, and what you were kind of going into is yeah, three-quarters of agents saying we do a deal this year. Yeah, it's down 12%. So you were a big part of that for us to think bigger, get more uh, you know, go up in our price range. So we really appreciate you. Well, thank you for that.
SPEAKER_03:I just saw on Instagram actually um the success of somebody on your team that hasn't been in the business a long time, but it's such a big deal in reverence. She'd be beautiful butters open, and it was her first deal, and she's on your team. And that's I don't know, I feel like yesterday or the day before when you were texting us over the weekend, hey, this is the formula, there's no secrets. Yes, that is the advantage of being around big thinkers such as yourself and Susan and everybody else in that office.
SPEAKER_05:Just because it's I'll tell you the exciting thing about her, man, honestly, was that whenever one the last team that she was on, she told us that she was told she would never be able to do luxury. Yeah, and the fact that she just closed four million in a month is pretty awesome. Yeah, um yeah, that that's I to me that was my win. Like I don't even care about the money, right? It was the fact that somebody else told her she couldn't do it, yeah, and now we proved to it to them that she could, you know.
SPEAKER_01:So get her on the pod.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, yeah, for sure. We do a Spanish pod. Oh, she loved it. I guess my questions do not sound the same. I'm like, what happened? I translated in my head and what I think.
SPEAKER_05:John will just go see. C that's what I'd be doing too.
SPEAKER_03:It's like, oh dude, that'd be that'd be fun if we did fun. Hey I like it.
SPEAKER_01:I think that is yeah, SmashPod would be cool. Yeah, I'm just yeah, I get to pro I mean I don't practice now, so we've had the luxury to see you evolve more as a broker and an owner over the years. So you're in what? You've just finished your third year. We're going into year three. So February 14th will officially be three years.
SPEAKER_05:Um St. Patty's day. Um St. Valentine.
SPEAKER_02:St. Valentine's Day Close enough. Yeah, yeah. Well, I'm looking at green, and we were just talking St. Paddy before.
SPEAKER_03:So it's all like yeah, my head's like going crazy now. The green sugar green wall, and then I said some patties instead of mouth.
SPEAKER_04:Valentine's TV.
SPEAKER_00:So it's a Monday.
SPEAKER_05:Some people drink a lot on Valentine's Day too.
SPEAKER_01:All for different reasons.
SPEAKER_03:Right. Oh.
SPEAKER_01:What do you think like this year has kind of been like your big mm-aha, whatever you want to call it? Because I've I've seen you groan a lot. So I'm just curious your perspective from your I want to hear something fun.
SPEAKER_03:Like, what's been the biggest challenge, but now you laugh at it and you're like, oh, that was silly.
SPEAKER_01:There you go. That's a good question, too.
SPEAKER_03:That way we keep it high by.
SPEAKER_05:Okay, well, this one, I don't know if it'll be funny to some, but I I so I love it. But honestly, I've never been sued in my entire life. And re receiving the first lawsuit was kind of like, oh, wow. Um, that was very, very strange.
SPEAKER_03:That's how you know you're doing something right.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, you know what? And and it's true, man. I mean, the bottom line is um, you know, one of my one of the people that I I I wouldn't say I'm mentored by, but I follow is Ed Milette. And um it was one of the things he talked about one time in the RT call, which was that, you know, if you're if you're not being sued, at some point you're gonna get sued. Like that's just a part of business. Um that uh you're not growing fast enough, you're not doing enough. And that's what that's the reality of business. And it's interesting because now, you know, now when somebody threatens it, it's like, oh, okay, well, here's my address, like go ahead and send it there. It's just something that, you know, it I I always I was telling somebody this the other day, I said it's like the first time you walk into the gym, right? 135-pound bench seems like a lot, and then you flash forward five years later and you're warming up with 135 pounds, right? That that weight is no longer heavy to you. And it's really it's it's the same with business man, which you know, it's it's what once seemed tough and unrealistic. You look back five years from now, and it's like, oh dude, that was that was easy. That was there was nothing to that. It was just the unknown. So it's like that that's where it just shows at the end of the day that you know you you can't be fearful of the challenges. You got to just take things head on and not be afraid of it. Um there's nothing perfect. You can write business plans. You know, I hear people always say, Oh, I'm gonna write my business plan, and which is great. You should have an outline, you should have a vision, you should have some sort of map. But you know what? Sometimes as you're on that road to where you're going, um, the road gets shut down or floods flood that that road away or your tire goes flat. Um, and you gotta pivot, right? And that's that's the other thing is I think sometimes when people are so set in their plan, it's like when the plan doesn't work out right, they look and they go, oh shit, like what do I do now? Like it's not, and and they just they they don't change. And I think that's the biggest thing that I've learned is that you just gotta you gotta be able to pivot, man. You gotta be able to move with it. Um, you know, sometimes you're gonna get punched in the face and you're like, oh man, I gotta put my right hand back up. Um so it's just that that's that that's the biggest thing is just learning, learning probably my biggest learning is just one, not be fearful. Also, you know, I was sharing with somebody the other day, I said, man, it's like every point in the business where I thought, oh shit, this is not good, like this is not looking good, right? Like I've got a problem. Um, it's every time that I've just gone ahead and just moved forward and um not worried about what the outcome was gonna be, then it's like on the back end, the back side of that you get rewarded, right? And and things end up moving forward anyway. I mean, there's there's probably 50 times in the last three years that I thought, oh shit, I'm gonna fail at this or this is not gonna go right or whatever. Um, and it ended up working out.
SPEAKER_01:So how do you get your mindset to just move forward?
SPEAKER_05:Um, what's the process like? Is it just a process right? You know, I think part of it honestly just came from a kid as as a kid, my dad. Like, there was no giving up. Like you you were not allowed. My dad was a Marine, he was raised in foster care, he was from Boston. Like, he is just like the toughest dude. He's 91 years old, 92 this year, still works, still builds cars, just got a piece of metal in his eye, and like no big deal. Um, he's just the toughest dude I I've ever met. Like, literally cut his fingers off one time and went back to work. Um, but front yeah, like they were just built. Yeah, no exaggeration, dude. He literally taped his fingers back together and went back to work. Um, but you know, his biggest thing was like you just never give up. Like there's never in and that's the thing at the end of the day, is like no matter how many times I, you know, and now I I think the biggest thing is, man, it's like um part of making huge commitments and diving in is that there's no turning back.
SPEAKER_06:Right?
SPEAKER_05:Like for me now, yeah, like there's a hundred there's a hundred people now relying relying on me, right? So now I've got such a huge commitment, and that's the great thing about making a commitment like that and making commitments to others, is that I can't quit now. I mean, trust me, dude. I I would be lying if I said there's days that I I haven't woken up and said, I want a simple life.
SPEAKER_03:Screw this, dude.
SPEAKER_05:What am I doing? I just want to go back to selling on my own. I want a simple life, like I'll go to work for someone. Yeah, um, plenty of days that I that I've wanted to quit, but then I'm like, oh shit, I can't. Like I've got employees and I've got we've got a hundred agents. I mean, there's all of this going on, like I can't give up anymore. And that and that's the good thing now about the commitment is that like you're forced to make it work, right? And um, so you know, it's been a big learning lesson this year.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, so going into 2026, what do you think is obviously you're opening a whole bunch of programmers up. Uh so what do you think is a big goal you are going to attain or something that's scary that you're excited or even maybe even not looking forward to next year? You could be excited, or yeah, like I told you, because we do stuff that we know we don't need to do, but we know that it's gonna build our mindset, makes you grow, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, yeah. No, I I I I get it. I mean, I I think that number one, honestly, the one thing I've learned about myself is that I do like chaos.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:It sounds crazy to say that, but it's something that I've learned.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Like it's too peaceful now.
SPEAKER_05:It's it's something that I've definitely learned about myself over the years, is that when things are too smooth and too calm, I I like to shake shit up a little bit. Because the one thing I've learned about myself is, dude, I'm a problem solver and I like to solve problems and I like to fix problems. So when things are too easy, like I have to shake it up a little bit. I have to like and I and I think that honestly, like it was even something that appealed to me as bodybuilding in bodybuilding at a young age was that I mean, definitely dieting for 20 weeks and training twice a day is not something you want to do, right? Right, right. But it's something that you do because you know what the end result is gonna be when you're working towards it. So I I would say that's the one thing now that um that you know, every time I step into a new office, every time I I bring on a new agent, it's getting I'm getting deeper and deeper and deeper into this, um, which is which is awesome because I know what's on what the end result of that is at the end of the day. Um and that's the thing, is at the end of the day, like, you know, I I think when most when most people are like, Darren, can we just settle with like this one office or this, you know, can we just get this one running right? But the reality is that nothing will ever run right. Nothing's ever perfect, dude. I mean, you look at the biggest companies in the world, Starbucks, look at the thousands and thousands of locations that they have, right? They still have their problems. And even even is with all the SOPs and every single system and all the experts and executives and everybody that they have working for them, they're still constantly making changes because that's business. It's a living, growing animal, right? And you've got to constantly maneuver with it, and there's gonna be things that are gonna come up that you're gonna be like, shit, you know, even if this is working today, right? Five years from now, maybe it doesn't work anymore. Yeah, and then we gotta we gotta change the the model and the business plan.
SPEAKER_03:So yeah, no, I agree. It's so part of those challenges at times is like culture, and I was gonna talk about our culture, it's really cool because we've heard it from a few agents now at different places. They're like, we love the culture of virtue because everyone's so friendly. Yeah. So yeah, I'm like, uh, I don't know how I got to that point.
SPEAKER_01:I just gotta bring that up too, because you I think, yeah, the culture has definitely grown, the agents that were in there, the events have occurred. Now you guys have a events committee that Jorge's running. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02:I love it. I love it. Okay, I love it.
SPEAKER_05:We just nominated him. We didn't tell you, did we? He nominated himself.
SPEAKER_02:I was like, oh, yeah. So I was there.
SPEAKER_03:So he's like, he told me twice. He's like, don't forget, it's all fun. I was like, okay, I'll be though, it was really good. It's gonna be agent attraction, which is really big for virtue. It's gonna be how to keep the culture, which we were just talking about. We just had our event at Pop Stroke, and it was so much fun.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, and yeah, it's just you know, and going back, if if there's it been anything that I'm I'm probably proudest of, honestly. I mean, aside from sales and the growth and all of that, the thing that I've seen with with companies as I've you know, I've always been in sales my entire life, and the and obviously been with other offices, dude, the toughest thing is culture. Yeah, yeah, right. Like if you get a few bad people in right in the beginning, yeah, it can be really tough to fix that, right? And so the one of the proudest things that uh or the one of the things I'm the proudest of is our company culture. Like everybody gets along great. Yeah, and honestly, hearing that from people is like one of the things I'm proudest of because I know that if we have that type of culture, as people come in and people get around it, it'll just attract more and more and more people. Yeah, people want to be around.
SPEAKER_01:They just want to go in and say hi to everybody, and yeah, it's hard, especially in real estate, just get agents in the office. Oh, absolutely, dude.
SPEAKER_05:Right, you know, yeah. I think I shared with you guys my first five years at um Shapiro and Shure. You know, that was the five toughest years of my entire life. And it was the only thing that I looked forward to every day was going to that office. And that was because of the culture, yeah. And I always say that honestly, if I wouldn't have started there with that great culture, I don't even know if I would be in real estate today. So I do understand how important it is, and it's awesome to hear that from everybody that we're creating that because especially for the new agents who come in who may be hesitant about joining, and then they get around everybody and they're like, Oh, dude, this is awesome, you know. And then we had such a great time at Pop Stroke. I mean, that was awesome, yeah. That's fun. It was perfect weather.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, we had like 10 people to one hole.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, and we were I'm just remember the one that you fell in, the whole that you've been inappropriate.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, uh yeah, I also have that little hill that was so hard to balance. You just can't help yourself. Um what was I gonna say? Yeah, oh no, but all of us we were like, we've never laughed so hard. We were hurting most. Yeah, we had a good time. Yeah, from hitting golf guys.
SPEAKER_05:And to me, and to me, that's so important because, right, like if there's anything that people remember, it's laughing and having fun and feeling good and happy, right? So I I think creating that culture, and I think that it that expands out to how the clients are treated, right? If if we create that culture internally, I just listened to somebody talk about this a few weeks ago about like if you look at the companies that are highly successful, one of the things they're always focused on is making customers happy. And I I think that if we do, if we're if we're the clients or I mean the agents are happy, then they'll make the clients happy. And then and then we just we multiply from there.
SPEAKER_03:So for sure.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, and we take over the world.
SPEAKER_02:Oh, I'm like, oh no, no way. I know we talk a lot, but important question.
SPEAKER_01:Who is your favorite team at Virtue Real Estate Group? No pressure. Well, of course, dude.
SPEAKER_05:The MacBook.
SPEAKER_02:You're gonna be here first. Don't spread, yeah, don't spread the rumors. No, but I gotta give you guys credit.
SPEAKER_05:I mean, I mean, talking about culture, you guys have been a big part of that because you're there consistently every day, right? And for the agents who have come in that are new and hearing and honestly, just hearing you guys laugh in there and have such a good time. Yeah, um, it's uh it's awesome, dude. It brings such a great energy to the office and and great culture. So um, no, I I do I do appreciate you guys for that. So we appreciate you.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, we appreciate your laugh too. Yeah, I think we just laugh at each other. I realized it wasn't good because I came in your office and you're yeah, you guys say you laugh. And I'm like, we're laughing because we hear you guys laughing. So I think we're laughing at each other.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I'm like, it's just gonna be.
SPEAKER_05:I tried to keep that for my car.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, no, it's yeah. I'm I'm glad I can't believe it's like three years later. I know. It's like it I mean, it feels like well, last year I can't even remember. I feel like, or this year. Yeah. Then last year, yeah, it's just here we are.
SPEAKER_05:Time flies quickly, man.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. You have any vacations coming up, or what do you do for the holidays? Um you're from Vegas, but yeah, but we'll we'll be here this year.
SPEAKER_05:Um, my wife's uh mom's coming in, so we'll we'll be we'll spend time here with with my family. Um, and then her her family's coming in uh right around New Year's. So we'll get to spend some time with them. That works out. Our normal trips are Laguna, that's our vacation. Yeah, so I don't I don't know. I have a hard time leaving for any longer than that. Like three days is good for me, man. So that's enough to like check out.
SPEAKER_03:Oh, so a cruise wouldn't be. For you then?
SPEAKER_05:Uh I could try it.
SPEAKER_03:We'll start with the short one.
SPEAKER_01:Have you done a cruise before? Yeah, years ago. See, I love cruises now. I was the same way, but it forces you to disconnect because you don't have your phone.
SPEAKER_05:I agree. I think I shared with you guys a few years ago. I mean, I I don't know if you guys were at the office yet. We spent a month in Laguna. And dude, that was like the best time ever because like the first week I was still on all the calls and the meetings and everything. And then by the second week, I started like missing calls and meetings. And then by the third week, I just left my phone in the house and like went to the beach every day and completely checked out. Yeah. And by the time I came back, I mean, dude, it it really did reinvigorate me. Yeah. I don't I a month is is tough. But um, you know.
SPEAKER_03:I just saw on Instagram something that if you don't do screen time or technology your cell phone for two weeks, that it reverses your age or something like that. Oh, really? Yeah. I'll have to see. I probably saved it, I'll send it to you guys. So it's funny you say like I actually feel reinvigorated. I wonder how much is that blue screen?
SPEAKER_05:Because you know, dude, that's gotta suck a ton of energy out of you. I mean, there's there's no doubt, you know. Yeah. The amount of times that we check it on a daily basis, right? Yeah, it's crazy.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, it's hard for us because we it we really can't disconnect from that phone because it's our job. Yeah. But yeah, it's I agree.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, we I did that a few weeks, was it like a month ago? We went to Laguna and I told my wife, I'm like, I'm gonna just leave the phone in here while we go to breakfast and stuff.
SPEAKER_01:And I don't give me anxiety.
SPEAKER_05:It gives me anxiety now thinking about it. I came back and I pick up the phone. I go, I should have never done that. I go, I have 114 text messages, and she's like, 114. I'm like, yeah. That's how it works. Yep. So now I figured out I gotta spend out, I gotta like have certain times of the day where I just sit in my car and I just catch up on text messages. Yeah, right. And now the new um Apple has with the new uh iOS, I think it's like 26 that I downloaded. You can actually like sort by all unread. So now I just go through all my own and go.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, I like the new upgrade.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:So now I can knock that out quickly.
SPEAKER_03:So what about health? So you're ready to do cold plunge? What do you have for next year? Or what are you doing? Anyway, no, dude. So it's it's interesting.
SPEAKER_05:So two things. Um, one, and I was gonna send this out this in the next day or two. Um, I want to challenge everybody in the office to 75 hard.
SPEAKER_03:Okay. We were talking about let's go 30 more days. So it's like, yeah, we're doing no drinking.
SPEAKER_05:So to really level it up. And then I I threw this out to the team the other day and I said, ma'am, maybe I'll throw this out. So if you guys know in 75 hard, um, if you fail, you have to start over, right? Yeah. So I said to everybody, I'm like, dude, what if we really level this up for everyone this year? And I can already see the anxiety. Yeah. Um, what if we really level this up for everyone?
SPEAKER_01:We thought we were full of 45.
SPEAKER_03:And us is just no drinking. 75 hard is something different, right? They have certain tasks. It's two workouts a day. Yeah. Yeah, okay. Because I'm not, I've heard about it.
SPEAKER_05:It's really a program designed around discipline. It's not so much about the working out, it's really about the discipline aspect of it. So if at any point you fail, you have to start over again on the 75 days. So I threw this out to my team the other day. I said, if you guys really want to step it up, and I said, I'll leave it to you guys to kind of help me decide if we do this or not. I said, but as a group, I think that if any one of us fell, we should all start over again.
SPEAKER_02:Oh no, no. Well, you're gonna be going on forever.
SPEAKER_05:Yeah, we're real estate. Everybody's like, you could feel the anxiety in the room. It was like, I go, but dude, that's an ultimate level of accountability because you know that if you fail, the other 30 people that are in that group would be.
SPEAKER_03:Some of us are weak.
SPEAKER_05:My productivity code.
SPEAKER_03:So then I say it. She's like, because just because it's a note today doesn't mean it's a note tomorrow.
SPEAKER_02:So then I thought about I'm like, maybe we create two groups.
SPEAKER_05:There's one group that says, okay, we'll fully commit, and then there's another group that says, we'll do the 75 hard, but we might fail a few times. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01:So it's like that. Well, I don't know how that goes. I think I have control issues.
SPEAKER_03:We work on for sure.
SPEAKER_05:I know, but that's that's like the whole point of it.
SPEAKER_03:Can you imagine it getting this 74 day and then you have something? No.
SPEAKER_02:I'm pretty sure I'm pretty sure that person would just leave. Yeah. So I got that one, it's like, yeah, oh god.
SPEAKER_05:But I thought that's like, dude, that's like the ultimate level of discipline if we do that, you know what I mean? So we'll we'll throw it out there and see who bites all of us.
SPEAKER_01:I'm glad that we didn't even talk about that and where our minds are kind of in the same place. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:Well, you know, I I think that right now, especially in this business and where the market's at, uh, you know, I one, I I I hate talking about the market because I think everybody gets so caught up in that. Right. That the market is what you make it, right? Right. So there's always opportunities. I love that. Yeah. There's always opportunities in every market. And so that's why I thought, you know what, this year to like level up for everyone, let's get disciplined, kick it off the first part of the year. Let's all get disciplined, get on the same page. It's it's not about the exercise, it's not about losing weight or body fat. It's just the discipline aspect of it. Sticking to your regimen on a daily basis. And at the end of it, it's not even about it's it's about proving to yourself that you can do it, right? That's that's the big thing.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I like it. It's like we're in alignment with that too. So we're doing that in spirituality books and stuff like that, just because we always know we're way more abundant when we're in that frequency. Yeah, so back to your question.
SPEAKER_05:And I I know I went like on a no, I did the same thing, yeah. Um, but uh, so I've been following high rocks. You guys familiar with high rocks? Oh wow. High rocks is kind of like a like a new version of CrossFit without all the power lifting and and uh Olympic lifting. Okay so it's it's done inside, it's like eight rounds of like thousand-meter run and like all these different exercises. Okay. So I've been following that now, and I'm like, dude, you know, that looks pretty cool. So I turned 50 this year, and I'm like, the two things I wanted one of the things that I want to do when I turn 50 is do a um an ultra, which is a 50 miler marathon, which everybody thinks I'm crazy for wanting to do that. But I'm like, that'd be like the coolest thing.
SPEAKER_03:I heard you're a quick runner though, per John. Yeah, he might run a five year old.
SPEAKER_05:So I'm like, I'm like, if I if I do a 50 miler, but then I'm thinking, you know what? Maybe to get in shape for that, I'll do this high rock. So high rocks is coming up in um the end of February. It's like right around my the the end. Um, so I'm like, dude, that'll give me about 60 days to train for it. And uh yeah, I don't know. Sounds pretty exciting to me.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, and it falls within the 75 hard.
SPEAKER_01:I kind of miss uh tough mutters.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, I don't like Spartan. I wouldn't do that when I guess I just thought it was just there to be there. And probably the weather doesn't go too.
SPEAKER_01:This must be a good virtue.
SPEAKER_05:This is kind of like a tough mutter, but not as fun.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah. Yeah, no.
SPEAKER_05:Which people are like, why then why would you want to do it? Like, that's the fun. It's like I want to do things that nobody else wants to do. When people are like, why would you want to do that? That's the exact reason why I want to do it.
SPEAKER_03:So yeah, because why? Free will.
unknown:Exactly.
SPEAKER_05:So I'll I'll put that out there too. Everybody's welcome to join. Okay. So well, and then you're saying maybe a tough mutter or a spark or something this year.
SPEAKER_01:Because we used to do them back in the day with our old brokerage, and that was a good bonding event. Yeah. It kind of gets everybody involved. Like you're a really good athlete, but not everybody is.
SPEAKER_03:So maybe build a yeah, we had somebody that was just really heavy and he just attempted war a costume. Yeah, he was able to go through it.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, love it, dude. But that might be a good we'll have to talk to the events committee.
SPEAKER_03:But um you know, we were talking about doing a monthly competition at Virtue between agents. Where like so we keep them re-enrolled and retention.
SPEAKER_05:When we were doing all the team leads, that was good.
SPEAKER_03:That was our our our coaches did something dumb where they bought like Gucci slides, and you know, they're like a little gnarly looking, like you gotta it's so bougie looking, but you're like new money. So, but because it was, I don't know if you guys seen them, but yeah, it's uh they were doing a competition, whoever took the most amount of listings or whatever it was, and they're like they wanted it's not something they would buy for themselves usually, okay. But because there's a story attached to the slides and they're already then you know, it just makes it way more fun. Everybody just kind of joins in on like, oh, he got the Gucci slides or whatever it was.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, it's funny. And then they were talking about well, they did six, eight deals for the month, they can clearly get these things, but they get excited about an iPad.
SPEAKER_03:Right. Yes, they're like, Yeah, they're like, How does this of those? Right.
SPEAKER_05:It's funny, I had somebody tell me that one time about a TV, dude. They're like, they're like, I ran a sales competition for my sales team. Most of them have no problem affording a TV, but for some reason they went crazy about winning that TV. Right. You know what I mean? So they're like, I'm not coming out of pocket.
SPEAKER_01:Yeah, you know what I mean. But I think, and I learned this from you though, I think it's like or a cruise. My dad actually did a uh cruise one time challenge, and that was really cool. But you taught me this. It's not so much the TV or the cruise or the iPad, it's the story that you tell your your spouse. Yeah, you're a kid. Yeah, wow, all of a sudden you're a hero. I love it.
SPEAKER_03:I love it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05:I I'm down for that. I don't know how I got on that. Let's do it. Let's do it.
SPEAKER_01:How are we doing?
SPEAKER_03:I know, I feel like my needs are gonna start kicking, and then I have like 10 more questions.
SPEAKER_01:One last thing. So going back to culture, you hand you have her Amber Rush, grade hire. Yep. Talk more about that. I thought that was a great one. We just had her on the pod. Just had her on the pod. We are fans of her. Yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_03:We'll show you the clip. See, they're judgmental.
SPEAKER_01:And I'm sure, yeah, as you know.
SPEAKER_02:No, I wouldn't get that from you either. Chaos and uh judgmental.
SPEAKER_05:That's 21 years in the business. I don't know another. Yeah. Um, Amber, you know, she started with my team as operations manager crap almost five years ago, and the team has just always loved her, right? Yeah, and so I I knew that would carry over to the brokers that she's um Amber's loves educating people, and you know, she stepped under the team for a while and tried sales. And I just I I could watch it in her, it's just not what she did. And she really loves taking care of everyone, and that's why she's gonna do a phenomenal job for us. Yeah, that's for sure.
SPEAKER_03:Yeah, tomorrow we have a clip that's coming out, and she speaks so highly of you. It's so nice to be in a company also where everybody kind of has the same consensus. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01:And it's like, yeah, so you'll see it tomorrow, I guess.
SPEAKER_05:I only had nine seconds left by the way.
SPEAKER_00:You guys are looking at a luxury real estate hit dinner.
